Ahmet Polat (photographer, filmmaker and editor-in-chief of HUMAN) takes us to contemporary Turkey and the artistry of Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s work to whom Eye has dedicated an exhibition. Replete with excerpts, photographs and interviews with guests.
Ahmet Polat has a couple of things in common with Nuri Bilge Ceylan: he is also both a photographer and a filmmaker, lived in Istanbul for a long time and created photo reports in the Anatolian interior. Ahmet Polat: “The work of Nuri Bilge Ceylan, master of cinema, provides a comprehensive vision of Turkey. He explores themes such as family ties, existential conundrums, isolation and the subtle influence of politics, all the while nature functioning as a mirror for the soul. The photographs invite dialogue on art, identity and the stories Ceylan tells”
